A word from your teacher

I sure miss seeing all of you! T4 will be beginning soon. I have sent a message to parents through SchoolStatus regarding students signing up for my Remind for Nutrition and Wellness. Please join today by texting @a42bb to 81010.  If you do not have access to internet please let me know ASAP. When classes do begin we will have hard copy packets of lessons available for pick up outside the school in waterproof boxes for those students who do not have internet or prefer hard copies. I do need to know if you are one of those students so I can make sure enough copies are made. You can message me by clicking on the word "contact" beside the envelope icon on this page or parents can respond to the message I sent out in SchoolStatus.

Stay in and stay safe!

About your teacher

I feel extremely blessed to be in my 12th year of teaching at LHS. Teaching life applicable courses is so rewarding! Teaching is a second career for me. After spending nine years in human resources I became a stay at home mom for many years. I began substitute teaching and knew that the teaching profession was for me. I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Business Administration. I completed my Education Specialist degree in Administrative Leadership in 2014 from Arkansas State. I have been married for 32 years and have two adult sons. Both graduated from LHS. My family attends Longview Heights Baptist Church where I participate in the music ministry. I love to sing for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Repeat last weeks assignments and choose whatever days you would like to do them. Each is important for the challenges our families are facing at this time.

Assignment 1

Family communication is always important but especially now. You are spending a great deal of time with  your family members as we are all housebound. Anxiety and stress over the unknown is normal. Spend some time today with each family member living with you and discuss how they are feeling with all that is going on. Tell them how you feel as well. Sometimes communicating openly with one another can help with anxiety, worry and stress that we are all feeling .

Assignment 2

We can show our love and appreciation for family in many ways. Today, do something helpful for at least one family member. For example:do some laundry (that means washing, drying, folding, and putting away) for your parents, help a younger sibling with an assignment they receive from their teacher this week, help your parents prepare a meal, clean up the kitchen after a meal, help care for a little one in your family, give your dog a bath, etc. Just take initiative and do something that you see needs to be done to help a family member(s).

Assignment 3

We have been advised to stay away from those who are elderly or immune compromised during this time. Do you have grandparents you have been unable to visit? Extended family members? Pick someone today that you have been unable to see and give them a call. Spend some time talking with them. If possible FACETIME them. This would absolutely make their day!

Optional: Send me a message and let me know how you completed any of these assignments. I would enjoy hearing how you are showing your family love and support this week! I sure enjoyed hearing from some of you this past week.
