INTRO AND  BIOLOGY I  THE YEAR LONG COURSE

vs

FAST TRACK BIOLOGY I

Biology is a Mississippi subject area that will be tested in Dec. for fast track biology and in May for year long bio students.  The class you are enrolled in will help prepare you for this exam.

YEAR LONG: Lessons will be fast paced in order to keep up with the state and county objectives that must be covered before the exam to ensure your success.  The intro course will begin your biology journey and it will end 2nd semester with the state exam in May.  This will allow much more detail and exposure through hands on labs to the bio topics being covered. We will also cover a complete review book before the end of the year. It's really like two courses in one so you will receive 2 high school credits toward graduation.

FAST TRACK: The fast track course is designed for those students wishing to cover the main objectives in biology in only one semester.  It is a class for very studious, organized, and determined students. The pace is almost three times as fast as year long. We will be using a state exam review book as our text and the website to complete many outside class assignments including virtual labs. The state exam for the first semester class will be in Dec. and second semester in May

You must pass the state exam to graduate high school!

You are responsible for keeping an organized binder and bringing it to class every day.  Flash cards, chapter notes, vocabulary/class work, quizzes and tests will be given on a weekly basis and should be kept in that order.  Always place the latest work on top of each section!

You will receive a quiz grade for each section we cover.  Then quiz questions will be seen again on the chapter test.  Each chapter test will also include a state exam practice section.  All 9 weeks and semester exam questions will be comprehensive so please keep all returned papers in your binder to help answer study guides.

You will participate in labs and or projects at least once per 9 weeks that count as a major test grade.  Your lab fees will be $20.00.

You will review and pre-test  through a state testing work book for a fee of  $15.00.

If you have any questions, please contact the school 662-890-6708 extension 1061 for Dena Dupree. I will return your call as soon as possible.

THE TOP OF THE HOMEPAGE WILL DIRECT YOU TO POWER POINT NOTES, WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS, AND TEST DATES.

My goal is for every student to succeed. Thank you for the honor of teaching your child.
